“THE 7 DAY CIVILITY CHALLENGE”
From Chaos to Calm -7 Days to Civility & Resolution
SIGN UP
Hello Councillor friends,
I ran “The 7 Day Civility Challenge”, in January 2025. It was an idea I dreamt up over the Christmas break.
If you missed out then you can join in the fun again. When you sign up I will send you the information and you can do the Challenge in your own time. You can expect a week of tips, tricks and strategies as well as some fun along the way as I share some of my learnings on the things that helped me build my conflict intelligence and resilience to manage conflict effectively to stay largely sane and happy (rather than stressed and burnt out) while on Council for 6 years.
Over the past few years I have spent a lot of time researching conflict, resilience and wellbeing in work and in life.
So how does it work?
You can register for the ‘The 7 Day Civility Challenge’ and I will send you an email with all the information and you can complete it in your own time. These challenges are fun, easy and won’t take too much of your time but are designed to get you thinking on how to improve civility in Council and in your life!
How do I join?
Easy! Just fill in your details below and you are in. And why not invite a few Councillor friends to join you as well! The more the merrier! This is an online challenge, so no matter where you are in the world you can come and join in the fun!
What else do I need to know?
Nothing really! Just sign up, play along and see if you can’t create a little more civility in your life!
Why Civility?
Promotes effective governance: Civility fosters respectful dialogue, allowing Councillors to collaborate effectively and focus on community needs.
Encourages constructive debate: By avoiding personal attacks, disagreements can remain productive and solution-focused.
Builds public trust: Civil interactions demonstrate respect and accountability, reinforcing public confidence in local government.
Sets a positive example: Councillors model respectful engagement, promoting values of inclusion and democratic participation.
Enhances decision-making: A civil environment values diverse perspectives and supports informed, collaborative decision-making.
So join in the fun.
